Supa IGA Puts In Top POS Solution
From the minute that Brassall Supa IGA opened its doors, there was problems. Problems with an old system.The decision to reopen a store with its existing technology was deemed to be prudent until it was realised that things were not working. Important things like pricing, eftpos,
and critical ordering functions.
The intent was to keep the stress on staff to a minimum. But when a store is opening and all hell is breaking loose its all hands on deck, there is little time to spend on solving technical issues. The owners were not happy. After all they had intended to put in the system they had in all their other stores.
There were lessons for everyone.
The owners quickly moved to solve the problem and requested that the system they know so well and the one that has propelled their business growth from the start – Profit Track – be installed at the earliest possible opportunity. But due to the investment commitments that had already been made, it had to be installed on the existing hardware.
SSA quickly ran a mock system on one of the lanes (TEC and NCR hardware) and bingo – all worked perfectly. At the same time SSA were able to resolve the eftpos problem plaguing the site since opening.
With well oiled efficiency SSA had Profit Track installed and running over a 2 day period soon after. Everything was functioning correctly even the scale interface to the old Ishida meat scales.
Its important to really think through the strategy for store openings, especially when its a store that has been open before. If there is a decsion to make a store work because you know it can, then it pays to set up that way from the start. Structure the store to perform correctly from the outset. Half-hearted application results in half-hearted outcomes.
Its not ideal to use the existing equipment and this will need to b e addressed at some point, but at least the store intelligence system is doing the refit some justice now. And the supermarket can get on do what it does best.
